RESUMO

Considerando a importância do agronegócio para a economia nacional e igualmente a importância do contador para as empresas, o objetivo central deste trabalho é analisar quais as habilidades principais esperadas de um contador e como as IES preparam seus candidatos para o exercício de seus futuros cargos. Para alcançar o objetivo proposto, a população em estudo foram os profissionais contábeis que atuaram ou atuam no meio rural. Os dados foram coletados mediante questionário. Os principais resultados obtidos através deste estudo são, a aparente ausência de relação entre nível de formação, experiência na área, com o nível de conhecimento que os respondentes julgam ter sobre o tema. Isso juntamente com a quase inexistência de ensino continuado demonstra que mesmo mais da metade das IES não contando com disciplinas relacionadas ao agronegócio em suas matrizes curriculares, o principal responsável pela insatisfação dos respondentes consigo mesmos são os próprios, visto que mesmo na presença de matérias sobre agronegócio, os pesquisados ainda julgam seus conhecimentos medianos.

ABSTRACT

Considering the importance of agribusiness for the national economy and equally the importance of the accountant for companies, the main objective of this work is to analyze what are the main skills expected of an accountant and how HEIs prepare their candidates for the exercise of their future positions. To achieve the proposed objective, the population under study were accounting professionals who worked or work in rural areas. Data were collected through a questionnaire. The main results obtained through this study are the apparent lack of relationship between the level of training, experience in the area, with the level of knowledge that respondents believe they have on the subject. This, together with the almost non-existence of continuing education, demonstrates that even though more than half of the HEIs do not have disciplines related to agribusiness in their curricular matrices, the main responsible for the respondents' dissatisfaction with themselves are themselves, since even in the presence of subjects about agribusiness, respondents still consider their knowledge to be average.
